Ashtanga
Yoga is a moving meditation based on a series of postures that are linked by a fluid, conscious breath to attain many benefits – among them, stillness. It is a vigorous practice that also cultivates deep calm. It is a universal method, practiced all over the world, but offers ample room for individual expression. It is a deeply personal experience, the journey of a lifetime.
Mysore is the city in India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught Ashtanga Yoga for the majority of his life, hence the name "Mysore" for classes that follow the traditional method for learning Ashtanga Yoga. It is my favorite way to teach due to the opportunity it offers to work and connect with each student and meet their specific needs, while they simultaneously receive the support of practicing alongside others. The series provides a consistent framework for students to visit and progress at their own pace to the rhythm of their own breath. Practice after practice, the series remains the same, but with commitment and dedication, the student inevitably changes.
